I am Dr Tutu Habib, an economist, educator, and researcher passionate about human capital development and the intentional raising of people who transform societies.

I believe that Decent Work and Economic Growth (SDG 8) cannot be sustainably achieved without deliberate investment in Quality Education (SDG 4). But not just any education. I am deeply committed to the kind that produces highly skilled, knowledgeable individuals grounded in strong moral standards and ethical values.

Only through such holistic education can Nigeria and Africa, as a whole, raise leaders who genuinely serve and citizens who understand their collective responsibility in building thriving societies. This conviction sits at the core of my work.

As a trained economist and researcher, my academic interests span human resource economics, economic development, and education development, with particular attention to low-income and developing country contexts. I hold a PhD in Economics and was recognised as a Top 3 finalist at the Nigerian Economic Society PhD Thesis Award, affirming my commitment to research that connects theory with real-world impact.

As an educator and mentor, I am intentional about creating learning experiences that go beyond academics; experiences that build character, vision, leadership, and civic responsibility. I am especially passionate about nurturing changemakers: young people who are willing, equipped, and inspired to transform their communities, starting with themselves.

In 2017, this passion led me to found The Palms Tutors, an initiative designed to make high-quality, affordable mathematics education accessible to every child, anywhere, anytime. At the heart of our work is the average Nigerian learner, a child who deserves to learn mathematics through relatable examples, contextual understanding, and instruction delivered with awareness of their peculiarities.

Since then, I have developed over 500 engaging mathematics video lessons, reaching more than 3,000 learners and helping them build confidence and competence in numeracy.

Over time, this work has evolved into a more holistic human development initiative. Through the First 2-Nine Teenagers Club, we provide mentorship that strengthens both academic capacity and moral resilience among teenagers in Awa-Ijebu, Ogun State. More recently, we launched The Palms Tutors Learning Hub, a free, values-driven learning centre offering access to digital math resources, a community library, and structured mentorship for children in underserved communities.

Alongside my community work, I currently serve as a Lecturer and Grant Writer at Babcock University and as a Research Fellow at the Centre for Econometrics and Allied Research, University of Ibadan.

I am driven by faith, purpose, and a deep commitment to human capital development because I believe that when we raise people deliberately, we raise nations sustainably.
